Coronavirus.Utah.gov

The state of Utah has created various programs and initiatives to inform Utahns about the COVID-19 pandemic and the state’s response. Coronavirus.Utah.gov is the state’s one-stop-shop for all public health coronavirus information.

COVID-19 Transmission Index

The state’s COVID-19 Transmission Index helps protect Utah communities.

The Transmission Index outlines the metrics used to determine which counties are placed in high, moderate, or low transmission levels, corresponding to case rates, positivity rates, and ICU utilization.

Data is analyzed weekly, and counties will be placed into a transmission level each Thursday. Changes from a lower to a higher level may occur weekly, and changes from a higher to a lower level, when certain thresholds are met, may occur after 14 days.

This data-driven index helps Utahns understand the risk of coronavirus transmission. Important health behaviors — based on epidemiology and medical science — are outlined at each level to protect yourself, your family, and your community from COVID-19.
