Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC) plans and builds roads and transportation projects throughout Utah–but not only in a literal sense. The organization is dedicated to helping women find their path in the workplace by providing support, fair pay, flexible schedules and development opportunities. WFRC builds the metaphorical roads that allow women to grow in their careers while balancing their lives outside work.
Wasatch Front Regional Council Champions Women
WFRC supports women in all their roles, at the office and at home. With adoption and fertility benefits, flexible work schedules, work-from-home options and a flexible schedule for women returning to work after maternity leave, the organization creates environments where women can balance their home and work lives.
Half of the organization’s leadership roles are filled by women. The executive director, Andrew Gruber, was awarded the “Man of the Year” award from the Women In Transportation Seminar (WTS) for his efforts to attract, retain and advance women in transportation. WFRC sponsors WTS and covers eight memberships for female employees to participate in WTS events and development opportunities.
WFRC conducts regular salary surveys to ensure pay scales are equitable. As a result of its most recent survey, multiple salaries were adjusted to reflect fair pay (five of the seven adjusted salaries were for female employees). The organization recruits talented women for open positions by posting their jobs far and wide.
