SUCCESS STORY
Inspired by Cultures Far and Wide, A B&B in the heart of Grand Circle
Set at the foot of the picturesque Kaiparowits Plateau in the southern Utah town of Big Water, World Traveler Bed and Breakfast offers two nautically-decorated homes (and some delicious carrot-cake waffles) minutes from Lake Powell.
An admirer of wilderness, host Ashley Rankin found her career in hospitality quite by accident when she invited a husband and wife from the Czech Republic to stay with her because they couldn’t find a vacant room in nearby Page, Arizona.
“Once I experienced that transformation of strangers into friends, sharing a healthy meal together in my own home, I knew I’d found my path,” said Rankin, adding that she loves learning about other places and meeting diverse people.
From a family with a strong entrepreneurial spirit: Rankin, her brother Ryan, and mother, Heather, began brainstorming about opening a Bed and Breakfast. They launched World Traveler BnB in the summer of 2020.
World Traveler BnB offers an ideal home base for experiencing Utah’s great outdoors. World-famous famous destinations like Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and The Grand Canyon are just a day trip away from the two magically decorated and well-supplied vacation rentals, located conveniently in the same neighborhood as one another.
Despite the pandemic, both units have seen a steady stream of guests leaving delighted reviews. The Rankins are busy, creatively planning how to further develop homes’ atmosphere while increasing the amenities the properties offer. On a mission to build a sense of cultural connection and belonging, Ashley seeks out souvenirs and artwork from countries all over the world.
“My dream is for guests from even lesser-known countries to find symbols of their homelands within the walls of World Traveler BnB.”
